I noticed recently that there seems to be an influx in the number of houses that are painted black. It’s always interesting to me to watch how the styles change over time and to see things that would have been too bold a few years ago start to become normal. I’ve always liked black as a color choice for homes and I’ve watched over the years as people started choosing black for things like floors and countertops then sometimes trim but lately I’ve notice a lot of places where people went all the way with the black paint so I decided to start taking some pictures of Portland’s black buildings. Enjoy!
I’ve noticed a of commercial buildings that are black that I didn’t have a chance to take pictures of.
This one is nestled in the trees with what seems like a great view from the other side of the house.
I like the little bit of green roof I can see with the black siding.
Here’s a better look at the main house. That’s Portland in the background.
This is an interesting modern design. It looks good with the black.
Typical of me I took a picture of the back of the building instead of the front.
I like the dramatic back and red paint combo! This house has some nice details to accent with the red.
I like that they have black planters and tables too.
Black and wood is definitely a theme I’m noticing around town.
This is an interesting complex of angular black buildings. I like the black and green.
I like how black gives personality to the minimal detailing of a ranch style house.
A bold color definitely works well to highlight the interesting shape of this house.
This one has sort of an ominous look to it.
Painting that little boxy portion of the building black makes this building look so much more interesting than it would otherwise.
I like how the concrete planters look with the black
Cool entry way! I wonder if that’s their matching car?
More black and green.
I’m so glad it was misty for this picture!
